Your Booking

Q. Can I choose my hotel?

A. No. We have deliberately selected specific hotels which guarantee the level of quality you would expect and allow us to offer such great prices.

Q. What is your maximum group size?

A. The maximum group size available through our online booking system is 6. We're able to provide great deals for larger groups, please contact us to arrange bookings.

Q. What if I'm traveling alone?

A. We do not currently offer a booking option for solo travellers, although frequently people travelling alone book for two as it still works out more cost effective than booking a car & hotel elsewhere.

Q. Can I take children on your trips?

A. Yes. Child seats are available with your rental car. Select the number you require in our online booking system.

Q. Can I give a trip as a gift?

A. Yes. Please book as normal but ensure you tell us this in our comments section; we have certificates we can email to you to give on the day.

Q. How do I contact you from Bulgaria if there is a problem?

Q. What does the package include?

A. The package is fully inclusive of all mandatory costs of your hotel and hire car such as insurance and tax, there are no catches, see our terms and conditions for the full details. Our packages are for a minimum of 2 nights.

Q. What is the minimum stay with BudgetBulgaria?

A. The minimum stay with BudgetBulgaria is 2 nights.

Q. What happens if I need to change or cancel my booking?

A. No problem.
Changes to your booking are subject to booking-amendment fees as detailed in the chart below. Any such fees are payable by credit/debit card at the time of the request.

Q. How long have you been in business?

A: We are a new business founded in 2007 but our partners in Bulgaria have been established for over 15 years.

Car Hire & Driving

Q. Can I get child seats and booster seats with the rental car?

A. Yes, child seats are available on request. Please ensure you select this option in the booking form.

Q. Can I drink alcohol and drive?

A. Bulgaria has stricter drink driving rules than the UK and the Bulgarian police won't give you any breaks because you are foreign. Our advice is not to drink anything before driving.

Q. What happens if something goes wrong with my rental car?

A. All our hire cars come complete with a breakdown recovery service. Please call the number provided with your rental car.

Q. Do I need my own car insurance?

A. No, you are fully insured as follows:

• CDW (car damages and accidents Insurance – Loss Damage Waiver is included)
• TLW (Fire and theft – Loss fire and theft Waiver is included)
• Personal drivers insurance (Required in Bulgaria)

Q. Can I choose which car I get?

A. You will receive a car appropriate for the size of your group. For example, the vehicle for a group of 2 will be a Vauxhall Corsa. You can upgrade to a larger car for an extra fee.

Q. What are the requirements for taking a hire car?

A. All drivers must be between 21-80 years of age and have a valid credit card which is used for a refundable deposit of between €100 - €350 dependant upon the class of car - note, this is held against a credit card as is standard will all car rentals worldwide.

Travelling in Bulgaria

Q. Can I use my hairdryer/laptop charger/other electrical equipment?

A. Bulgaria uses the 220volt, 50Hz as used in most of Europe. Most electrical devices from Europe will work but you must check the labelling on the equipment. Bulgaria uses 2 pin plugs and sockets so you may require an adaptor.

Q. What happens if something is stolen?

A. Call the police immediately. The number is 166.

Q. What should I do if somebody in my group is sick?

A. If you think they need medical assistance, go to the local hospital The medical emergency number is 150.

Q. What is the time zone in Bulgaria?

A. UTC/GMT +2 hours

Q. Is it safe for women?

A. Yes. Bulgaria is as safe as any other European country.

Q. Can I use my mobile phone?

A. The majority of mobile phones will work in Bulgaria, specifically those which can use GSM or UMTS networks. Please check compatability with your network provider.

Q. Where is the best place to exchange money?

A. Cash machines can provide some of the best exchange rates, don't use the currency exchange kioks in the airport, in our experiences they do not offer great rates.

Q. Will my bank machine card or credit card work in Bulgaria?

A. Yes

Q. Should I use traveller's cheques?

A. No

Q. Can I drink the tap water?

A. Yes. The water in Bulgaria is very high quality.

Q. Will I be able to find vegetarian food?

A. Yes. Vegetarian food is usually available but do not be afraid to ask if there is no special vegetarian menu.
